Tami Hart

Tami Hart’s music career began while still a high school student in South Carolina, when she was signed to Mr. Lady Records, and toured as a supporting act for Le Tigre. At age 18, Hart’s debut album, No Light in August, was described in the NY Times by Ann Powers as being one of the best albums of 2000. During that time, Hart toured in support of Sleater-Kinney, Indigo Girls, The Butchies and many more.

Hart moved to San Francisco, forming the post punk band GangWay! (Featuring members of the band No Age). Following a move to NYC, Hart formed two more bands, Winning Looks, recorded by Kathleen Hanna. Hart also formed the Punk meets RnB duo Making Friendz, who’s album Social Life received several notable licensing placements (Last Bummer Records). In 2011, Hart joined the band MEN featuring prominent artist JD Samson of Le Tigre fame.

Tami Hart has recently resurfaced as a solo artist,

Brontez Purnell
is a writer (5 books-including 3 recently published on the UK’s Cipher Press), dancer (Brontez Purnell Dance Company), film (Writer for the tv series “Queer AsFolk” and Showtime's “America Gigolo”) and musician. He has been making DIY/ punk music for 25 years. Starting with his all-black hardcore band The Social Lies in his native home state of Alabama in the late 90s he went to start The Younger Lovers in 2003 as a solo bedroom demo project where he recorded all the instruments himself. Purnell (a punk and rock n roll aficionado since his early teens) moved to the Bay Area in the wee hours of the 2000's to become an aspiring dancer, writer, as well as musician. The sound of The Younger Lovers takes a foothold from Purnell's equal love of all melody based rock forms-indie, Blues, garage, surf, riot-grrrl, soul and punk-all distilling into a singularity of sound that is as unique as it is audacious. Purnell joined the ranks of punk/electro-clash/riot-rrrrlband Gravy Train!!! And toured alongside Le Tigre, Jr.Sr., ESG and a host of other influential bands. His love of the form is deeply informed by a family tradition and lineage of three generations of blues musicians and a developed love for guitar from his Grand Uncle J.J Malone who moved from Alabama to Oakland in the 60’s and went to be an executive for the famous Fantasy/ Galaxy Records in Berkeley as well as worked alongside Etta James, Credence Clearwater Revival, Al Green, and Big Mama Thornton to name a few and passed guitar knowledge on to his grand-nephew. This show is the record release party for his new 7” on Sub Pop’s Singles Club. He’s got a forthcoming LP, “Confirmed Bachelor,” coming out March 2023 on the UK’s Upset The Rhythm.

Wifey
