This is the record release celebration for Em Spel, the solo project of Chicago-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emma Hospelhorn. Her debut album, 'The Carillon Towers,' folds myriad textures into songs that feel alternately lush, spiky, delicate, abstract, and grounded, yet simultaneously unified and cohesive. With one foot in pop music and the other in avant-garde classical music, the album is a subtly experimental take on chamber folk.

As a performer, Hospelhorn is an exceptionally fluid force in the thriving Chicago music scene. She is a flutist in avant-classical group Ensemble Dal Niente, and her discography includes work on flutes, bass guitar, and keyboards for V.V. Lightbody, Mute Duo, and others working in a diverse array of genres including folk, drone, garage rock, post-punk, and classical. In this solo endeavor, she fuses all of these influences with story-driven lyrics to create invitingly strange folk vignettes. For tour dates and full discography, go to

"A hypnotic soundscape is created by electronic percussion and gentle flute notes layered with an enchanting vocal, which engulfs the listener and draws them in. Much like trees, this is music that needs space to grow and breathe. It’s a must-listen for fans of Joanna Newsom, Laura Veirs and the like." —

Health&Beauty is the musical creative vehicle for Brian J Sulpizio, an experienced and well-traveled musician and recordist. He has worked with some of the most creative and thoughtful musicians in the world. Here he presents some improvised guitar playing.

According to the Chicago Reader Elenna Sindler's "songs balance her haunting lyrical themes with elements of finely crafted folk music and dream pop, which give the music the restorative feel of crisp morning air." Elenna will perform songs from her experimental chamber-pop EP with Hasco Duo (Amanda DeBoer Bartlett and Jesse Langen), titled “Lullaby Baby,” which premiered at EarTaxi Festival in 2021. Elenna is a Chicago based performer-composer of contemporary classical and pop music. As a contemporary classical vocalist, she has performed works by composers Kaija Saariaho, Philip Glass, Meredith Monk, and Caroline Shaw. She has worked with opera director Joachim Schamberger and conductors Donald Nally (The Crossing), Matilda Hoffman (UC Davis), and David Bloom (Present Music). As a pop vocalist she has performed at various Chicagoland area venues, such as Schubas, Wells Street Art Festival, and the Jazz Showcase, among others.
