While many artistsare touted as “genre-bending” these days, Sonny Miles embodies the ethos in away that few others can. Miles’ music blends the personal with the political ina way that feels universal; it’s a new manifestation of that musical dualitythat we’ve seen throughout his entire life. While many may rightfully make theclaim that his art is “timeless,” it’s equally important to acknowledge it as areflection of the times: he’s a young black man battling with the ever-presentpull between social unrest and personal distress, while somehow finding loveand light along the way. In short, Sonny Miles illuminates the universality ofthe highs and lows of everyday life.

Raleigh alt-rock outfit By George embodies the ethos of headstrong youth, withtheir vivacious guitar-forward tracks with radio-ready hooks. With a new albumout, the band is blazing new paths in the North Carolina music scene.

The Knotty G’s take soul-soaked mountain music to a special and reverent place.Gritty, funky, and genuine performances fuse with the band’s jovial, lighthearted nature inviting audiences to take part in the revelatory power ofmusic while drumming up plenty of fun. Though The Knotty G’s are known toapproach genres in unconventional ways, their goal is simple: to create musicand an experience they feel is genuine.
