The performance will be presented in two acts, each act will last roughly 30 minutes.

ACT 1: From My Life 

Mendelssohn's final string quartet is a work of rich romanticism from that portrays the passion of youth, the loss of the composer's beloved sister and the wisdom of  maturity. Performers will be violinists Nick Hammel and Masayoshi Arakawa, violist Katie Snelling and cellist Liam Battle, cello, all Emerging Artists of the festival.



ACT 2: The Mystery of Stillness

Pianist Svetozar Ivanov presents a collection of short multimedia performances, each featuring the work of one poet integrated into the musical ambiance of a particular composer. Additional artistic ingredients are added, drawn from dance, film footage or animation. Composers include Cowell, Scriabin, Berio, Ustvolskaya, and Cage; poets presented are Sappho, Paz, Apollinaire, Akhmatova, Lorca, and e. e. cummings. The title derives from the words of e. e. cummings – “Nothing can surpass the mystery of stillness.”

The Double E Performance Center has been hard at work during the downtime to reorganze their space, and recommit themselves to providing a space for creators to share their work. 
  • Seats in the T Rex Theater are first come, first served 
  • Please be respectful to your neighbors, do not take accessible seating unless you require it
  • Drinks are welcome in the theater! No glass will be allowed in the space, but cupholders make holding your drink even easier!

The Double E Performance Center takes Coronavirus seriously. We recognize that the success Vermont has experienced is because of the respect Vermonters have shown for each other. Trust Us - we wish things were normal too! Until that time comes, we're eager to continue to support live music, while keeping people healthy.
