LYDIA LUNCH RETROVIRUS

AN ALL-STAR CAST (ft. Weasel Walter, Bob Bert, & Tim Dahl) OF SONIC BRUTARIANS IN A NO-HOLDS-BARRED SURVEY OF HER MUSICAL OUTPUT FROM 1977 TO THE PRESENT. Including music from Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, 8 Eyed Spy, Queen of Siam, 1313 and Shotgun Wedding.

Lydia Lunch has spent decades trolling through the sub/terranean sick-home black & blues creating a schizophrenic musical legacy which loops from shrill No Wave to bludgeoning Hard Rock, from smoky Jazz Noir and illustrated word to macabre Psychedelia.

Weasel Walter is best known as the founder of the cult punk jazz/no wave/brutal prog band, The Flying Luttenbachers. Mr. Walter has also worked with other experimental rock groups like XBXRX, Behold The Arctopus, Burmese and Lake Of Dracula. As an improviser, Mr. Walter has performed with Evan Parker, Marshall Allen, Elliott Sharp, Peter Evans, Henry Kaiser, Mary Halvorson, Nels Cline, Jim O'Rourke and Vinny Golia.

Bob Bert has pounded the skins for Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Chrome Cranks, Knoxville Girls, fronted his own group Bewitched and has provided a unique rocking voodoo backbeat on over 30 albums. A stint in print making at Warhol's Factory helped inspire him to create the highly lauded music, art and literary magazine BB GUN.

Tim Dahl is a composer and professional electric and double bass player, vocalist, keyboardist and composer living in New York City. He is best known as the front man and bass player of the noise-rock band Child Abuseand the defunct avant-jazz group The Hub.He also writes and performs for the jazz ensemble Pulverize The Sound. Dahl has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Japan, and performed with many notable musicians, composers and performers including Yusef Lateef, Archie Shepp, Eugene Chadbourne, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Elliot Sharpe, Tatsuya Yoshida and Stanley Jordan.

OXBOW

Designed to be the last aural will and testament of failed humanity, OXBOW actually garnered listeners from among the ranks of the fucked, with their 1989 release FUCKFEST (cfy; (and later, pathological)). Followed by KING OF THE JEWS (1991) (cfy), THE BALLS IN THE GREAT MEAT GRINDER COLLECTION (1991) (pathological), LET ME BE A WOMAN (1995) (brinkman/crippled dick hot wax) recorded by the estimable STEVE ALBINI, SERENADE IN RED (SST (1997)/CDHW (1996)) also recorded by ALBINI and GIBBS CHAPMAN (FAITH NO MORE, RED HOUSE PAINTERS), AN EVIL HEAT (2002) (neurot) by GIBBS CHAPMAN, LOVE THAT'S LAST (CD+DVD) (2006) (Hydra Head) by various, and THE NARCOTIC STORY (2007) (Hydra Head) co-produced by JOE CHICCARELLI (THE RACONTEURS, FRANK ZAPPA, ELTON JOHN), and NIKO WENNER, as well as various singles and dance remixes, OXBOW has met with increasing critical acclaim and popular support. The OXBOW core membership -- DAN ADAMS/bass, GREG DAVIS/drums, EUGENE ROBINSON/voice, and NIKO WENNER/guitars+keyboards -- has been supplemented by the subtle stylings of LYDIA LUNCH, KLAUS FLOURIDE, JARBOE, MARIANNE FAITHFULL, RICHARD KERN (SONIC YOUTH et al), JON RASKIN from the ROVA SAX QUARTET, and a string section that would make Barry White wince. Though claiming San Francisco as their hometown, OXBOW played in England in 1990 and toured Europe and the U.S. in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2007. OXBOW has also performed in Tokyo, Osaka, London, Berlin, New York, Vienna, Oslo, Prague, Portland, Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Rome, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Gent, and almost every other place people will pay them to hear them play.
