This is the make-up show for the Cafe Du Nord event on August 28, 2020. All tix for the old event will still be usable for this one.

In each song she creates, Nicole Atkins reveals her incredible power to transport listeners toa much more charmed time and space. On Italian Ice, the New Jersey-bred singer/songwriterconjures the romance and danger and wild magic of a place especially close to her heart: theJersey Shore in all its scrappy beauty. Inspired by the boardwalk’s many curiosities—thecrumbling Victorian mansions, the legendary funhouse, the Asbury Park rock-and-roll sceneshe played a key part in reviving—Atkins transforms her neverending fascination into awonderland of her own making.

Co-produced by Atkins and Ben Tanner of Alabama Shakes, Italian Ice makes brilliant use ofits A-list personnel, unfolding in a kaleidoscopic sound that Atkins likens to “an acid tripthrough my record collection.” At turns as opulent as symphonic pop and gritty as garagepunk, the album wanders into shades of psych-rock and honky-tonk and girl-groupmelodrama, endlessly spotlighting the tightly honed musicianship and unbridled originalityat heart of Atkins’s artistry. http://www.nicoleatkins.com/

Alexandra Riorden’s debut LP Angel City Radio is an abstract chronicle of the tumultuous healing process one endures after experiencing trauma, wrapped in a smoke-scented velvet curtain of shimmering indie-rock. Progressing like a Lynchian dream sequence, each song on the record takes the listener down a different hallway in the labyrinth that is recovery; some dark & menacing, others somber & reflective, but all moving towards empowerment and self-reliance. https://linktr.ee/alexandra.riorden
