Zelienople, P.M. Tummala
8:30pm. Proof of Covid vaccination is required.
Zelienople is a trio (Matt Christensen, Brian Harding and Mike Weis) from Chicago that formed in 1998, releasing their first split 7” in 2000. Since then they have released twelve full-length albums on various international labels including Type, Root Strata, Immune and their latest on Miasmah. Zelienople’s music has been described as Ambient-Pop, Space-Rock, Post-Rock, Slow-Core, Avant-Rock, Doom-Pop, Free-Folk, Dark-Americana or any other hyphenated tags that fail to pin them down, but at this point in their long and varied career of creating music they are pretty much a genre unto themselves.
At this performance P.M. Tummala will join them on keyboards.
P.M. Tummala will play an opening set. P.M. Tummala is a multi-instrumentalist and producer who explores identity and false memories as a sound companion to Indian modernism on his new album, Abstractions in Meera. With instrumentation that includes sampler, synthesizers, vibraphone, electric piano, and tape, he spins a dreamlike, lost-in-time collage of warped melodies and ghostly rhythms that creates an alternate aural history of Indian soundtrack music.
